Located in the centre of Sydney’s CBD, the Primus Hotel sits on the site of a former 1939 Water Board building and presents a rich overlay of historic layers. The client proposed to transform the state listed heritage building into a 5-star boutique hotel with 172 keys.
Along the project’s life cycle, our project manager actively liaised with government authorities to ensure approval delivery within the tight deadlines. This was followed by contractor tender and contract execution. After construction commencement, our project manager acted as client representative to guarantee every detail was delivered to a high standard and ultimately handed over to hotel operator on time, and on budget.
The difficulty of the project was negotiating its heritage nature and consequential issues. We worked hard to create a balance between the building’s original fabric and new operational life. Our project manager worked closely with authorities, institutions and specialists from different levels to ensure a prompt handover to the operator. The project is completed and its soft opening was launched in December in 2015.
