The Elizabeth Hotel is conveniently located about 10 minutes’ walk from Redfern train station. The project comprises of about 60 hotel-style rooms and suites to service Sydney’s growing tourist numbers. Other facilities provided include an outdoor exercise area, rooftop garden, a restaurant and basement parking garage. The project design is a response to the neighbouring heritage listed church building, and relates to the neighbourhood character in terms of the build form, scale and materials.
This project was very challenging as the design needed to address many strict planning controls imposed by council. The site’s previous use as a service station also complicated the approval process as there was another environmental management and remediation layer to resolve.
Enhance was engaged to provide comprehensive development management services to the project. We established and managed the design team, advised the design direction and style of the project, and advised on its market positioning. Enhance guided the team to a successful DA submission according to the stringent pre-set program for the project.
